German anime fans recently established a grass-roots initiative known as the Anime Copyright Allianz. The group's stated goals include promoting respect for anime copyright-holders in Germany, as well as educating fans on current copyright laws. The alliance is composed of numerous fan-run websites and clubs, as well as two fansub groups. Corporate entities Anime Virtual, Kaze, and Animax are also members of the coalition.

The group focuses on the removal of titles licensed for sale in Germany, and encourages users to report licensed titles that were uploaded for illegal downloading. The group will not take legal action, but they will report illegal uploads to the sites that host them.

Kaze and Anime Virtual are both owned by Viz Media Europe.
