Gutsoon! Entertainment Inc. announced its plans yesterday to unveil its new line of Raijin comics at Anime Expo, due to the large boom of the American market for such products.

The Raijin comic, which is planned for an American release in November, will be a weekly manga comic book anthology based on Japanese characters and stories. Gutsoon! made plans to publish it in America after being a great success in Japan for Gutsoon!’s sister company, Coamix, when it began circulation in May 2002. The main selling point of the manga was that it came with a bilingual supplement, ideal for Japanese that wanted to practice and improve upon their English skills. Another feature of this was to show the Japanese the transition of manga and anime from their land to foreign countries, such as America.

The North American release will also carry something special with it as well. No, it is not a Japanese version of the manga to practice your kanji skills. It is actually a news supplement, to provide the readership with information on: the latest Japanese trends, anime, and videogames.

Gutsoon! estimates that initial circulation will be around 15,000 comics a week. Many big name manga artists are taking part in the American version as well, sure to excite fans. Hojo's City Hunter, Hara's Fist of the Blue Sky, Inoue's Slam Dunk, and Niwano's Bomber Girl are all taking part. Gutsoon! states that the key demographic for the comic as of now is a male ages 15-34, but introductions of strong female protagonists have generated a solid female readership.
