Pachinko Machine Maker Oizumi Buys AIC

Anime News Network reports that pachislot maker Oizumi acquired anime studio AIC. Oizumi will make AIC a fully-owned subsidiary by puchasing 3,800 shares (95 percent) of the company's stock. The remaining five percent is currently held by the TM company, and will be repurchased by AIC.

AIC was established on July 15, 1982 by current company leader Toru Miura. The company is responsible for many landmark titles, including Ah! My Goddess, Tenchi Muyo!, and Armitage III. Currently, the company is comprised of the following sub-studios:

  • AIC Digital
  • AIC Spirits
  • AIC ASTA
  • AIC Plus+
  • AIC Takarazuka

AIC recorded 28 million yen ($332,424.40) in profits from annual sales of 1.915 billion yen ($23.15 million ). In the same period, Oizumi reported 6.951 billion yen ($82.52 million) in sales and 156 million yen ($1.85 million) in profits.
