TV Asashi announced that they will purchase the entirety of animation studio Shin-Ei Animation. The broadcaster will purchase the shares held by Shin-ei chairman Sankichiro Kusube, granting TV Asahi 100% ownership. Before the announcement, TV Asahi owned 144,000 held shares, or roughly 90% of stock in the studio.

Shin-Ei is best known for producing the Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan anime series. The studio reported 3.408 billion yen ($41.363 million) in revenue and 391 million yen ($4.75 million) in profit.
