Otakon announced that they will partner with Madhouse to provide an outlet for fans of late director Satoshi Kon to express their appreciation for his works. The convention encourages fans to send letters to Kon's family by way of a temporary address provided by Otakon (studio.kon.satoshi@gmail.com).

The convention also recommends other ways of participating, including donating to charities dedicated to fighting cancer, buying Kon's works, and spreading the word of his films to family and friends.

Fans that wish to mail physical cards and letters can send their words to the following address:

Satoshi Kon Project, Otakorp, Inc. 402 King Farm Blvd, #125-113 Rockville, MD 20850

Satoshi Kon passed away on August 24 due to pancreatic cancer. He was working on his fifth feature film, Yume-Miru Kikai, which is still unfinished. In his last blog post, Kon stated that Madhouse co-founder Masao Maruyama promised that the film would be finished.
