Anime News Network reports that FUNimation will submit Mamoru Hosoda's Summer Wars for consideration in the next Academy Awards. The movie will be the fourteenth submission in the Best Animated Feature category.

According to the official rules, if there are sixteen or more eligible titles for the category, a total of five nominees will be selected. Otherwise, three nominees will be chosen. According to FUNimation, the company has a few more deadlines to meet, in regards to the filing.
