Manga creator Ken Akamatsu announced that he will launch a website that offers free, advertising-supported manga titles. The site, named J-Comi, will distribute out-of-print manga titles, with the creator' permission, in PDF format. The titles will be supported by revenue from advertising, that will be divided among the creators involved. Chapters will be free, with no digital rights management technology.

Ken Akamatsu is best known for creating Love Hina and Negima!. Currently, a number of manga creators are signed on for the service, including Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi creator Ryusei Deguchi.
