Anime director Hiroshi Nagahama and Marvelous Entertainment are currently suing Sony Music Japan International to cease sales of I am Sasha Fierce, by American musician Beyonce. According to the lawsuit, the packaging for the album uses several anime storyboards without the company's authorization.

According to the suit, Nagahama produced several storyboards that would be used to produce animated footage for Beyonce's concert tour. The artist's representatives chose not to use the storyboards, so Nagahama transferred the copyrights for the storyboards to Marvelous. Both Nagahama and Marvelous allege that the storyboards appeared in the liner notes of last year's release of I Am Sasha Fierce. When approached by the plaintiffs, Sony claimed that they had permission to use the materials due to a license with an American company.
