Yesterday, Bandai issued a press release announcing their acquisition of the sequel to one of the most recognized and praised anime of all time, Ghost in the Shell.

Bandai gained the rights to bring the sequel, entitled Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, to North America in the home video and broadcast formats. Unlike its predecessor, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is not a movie, but a television series.

Production I.G. (known for other productions like Love Hina and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade) created this new series, with help from many people highly recognized in the field of anime. With an original story by Masamune Shirow (Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell), direction by Kenji Kamiya, and music by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne) there is an abundance of talent layered into this anime.
