The official Appleseed XIII website announced that the project will be simultaneously released in theaters, on Blu-Ray, and over the internet in Japan. The theatrical release is currently referred to as the "Theatrical Remix Version", and condenses the first half of Appleseed XIII's story. A limited-edition Blu-Ray of the film will be sold exclusively at theaters showing the film.

The film is scheduled to open in theaters in Tokyo and Osaka on June 13, followed by an opening in Nagoya on June 27. The first volume of the Appleseed XIII anime series will hit Blu-ray and DVD on July 16, while the series itself will begin airing this spring.
