Fractale director Yutaka Yamamoto revealed that he asked for the Fractale manga adaptation to be halted. Yamamoto asked Mutsumi Akazaki, who was working on the adaptation, to stop work on it after she wrote a blog post claiming that she found the work "uninteresting", and that she wanted to work on a title she enjoyed. Yamamoto stated that he wants Akazaki to draw something she believes in, rather than ride on other peoples' coattails.

Neither Akazaki nor publisher Square Enix commented on Yamamoto's request.
