Remake of Space Battleship Yamato In the Works

Makoto Kobayashi (Last Exile, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ) revealed that he is currently working on a remake of Space Battleship Yamato.
The announcement was made at the closing ceremonies of this year's Anime Expo. No further details were revealed, aside from the mention that the title will be released in 2012.
