Comic-Con International revealed that they will host director and manga creator Katsuhiro Otomo as a guest of honor. Otomo is best known for creating the landmark classic Akira, as well as directing its film adaptation. In addition, Otomo created Steamboy and Memories, and either directed or co-directed their anime adaptations. Otomo also worked on the Freedom OVA, Spriggan, and the 2001 Metropolis film.

Comic-Con will be held from July 12 through July 15 in San Diego.
