Viz Media announced that Warner Bros. acquired the live-action film rights to Tite Kubo's Bleach.The film will be produced by Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard), and feature a script by screenwriter Dan Mazeau(Clash of the Titans). Michael Ewing and Masi Oka (Heroes, Hawaii Five-0) will also serve as producers on the project. Jason Hoffs and Branon Coluccio of Viz Productions will serve as producer and executive producer, respectively.

Warner Bros. previously acquired the live-action film rights to Death Note. The company is co-producing adaptations of Ninja Scroll and Akira with Appian Way.
