Lupin III, the star of numerous anime, manga, and video game incarnations will be appearing in the flesh on the big screen, as Gerald Molen has acquired the US film rights to the series. The film isn't expected to be ready for a theatrical release until around 2005, but planning has begun as Molen works with the series' creator and manga artist Kazuhiko Kato (also known as "Monkey Punch"). Kato's only insistance was that the five main characters of the series thus far remain the main characters, leaving other artistic decisions to the discretion of the producers.

No details on possible casting choices or budget information was released, but Molen fully intends to see the film become a box office success.
