Anime Satellite Channel coming to Asia and Ghost in the Shell 2 Trailer

Sony Pictures Enertainment recently announced the creation of Animax Asia, the first 24-hour-a-day network featuring anime for areas of Asia outside of Japan. Animax Asia will be based in Singapore and will operate the network as well as handle marketing. Its cousin, Animax Japan, has partnerships with Toei Animation, Sunrise, TMS Entertainment, and Nihon Ad Systems. They will help provide the content. Basic cable carriage has already been planned in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Animax will begin broadcasting in Taiwan on January 1, 2004. Selected countries in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Indonesia will receive the channel on January 19, 2004.
