Four years after the TV series aired, the movie version of Tenkuu no Escaflowne is to be released this summer in Japan. Although the movie has a new design and a very different atmosphere from that of the series, the staff remains the same: Kazuki Akane as the director, Nobuteru Yuuki as the character designer and Yoko Kanno as the composer, to name a few. The movie will convey a much darker and more mature atmosphere.

The great news is that the movie will make its U.S. premiere at Anime Expo 2000, held in Anaheim, California, from June 30th to July 3rd. A 35mm version of the movie will be shown there courtesy of Bandai Entertainment.
