ADV Films has had two titles nominated for Canada's "Best Anime DVD of 2004" award in the Canadian Entertainment Network Awards. The titles nominated are Lady Death: The Motion Picture and Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Edition 0:1.

According to Publisher's Weekly Magazine, AD Vision has laid off as many as forty employees. The majority of these layoffs come from ADV's manga division. ADV's Chris Oarr has confirmed layoffs, but did not cite exact numbers. Oarr also states that ADV manga will release a lower number of books this year, with some fifty titles expected to be released, as opposed to last year's eighty. ADV will also focus on titles where ADV has the rights to both manga and anime properties.

Media Blasters has obtained the rights to the live action GTO movie, as well as the rights to the manga adaptations of Eiken and Samurai Man. GTO is expected to be released on July 26, with a retail price of $29.95US. The first volumes of Eiken and Samurai Man will see a July 13 release date, with a suggested price of $9.99 each.

Broccoli's popular Galaxy Angel franchise saw its theatrical debut on March 16 with the opening of its first public performance of the live-action musical adaptation in the Shinjuku theater. The storyline is placed somewhere between the second and third video games in the franchise, and runs through March 22 at the Kinokuniya Southern Theater.
