EAGLE SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS

EAGLE #13: THE ELECTION ISN'T OVER UNTIL WE SAY IT'S OVER!

"A canny political thriller!" -US News and World Report

San Francisco, CA (12/1/00) -Viz Comics is pleased to announce the beginning of the second year for Eagle: The Making of an Asian-American President. Currently set to run for 22 issues, Eagle is the story of Kenneth Yamaoka and his bid to become the first Asian-American to hold the office of president. In this issue, Maria Estefano, a Puerto Rican daughter of immigrants, has an incredible claim: candidate Yamaoka fathered an illegitimate child with her, twenty years ago. And for Takashi, that child's identity is even more crushing than the imminent collapse of Yamaoka's campaign!

Eagle has received rave reviews from both the comics community and the mainstream press. Eagle was recently hailed by U.S. News and World Report as a "canny political thriller" when that magazine selected it as a Top Pick in October. In an LA Times article that same month, Jim Borgman, Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist for the Cincinnati Enquirer and co-creator of the comic strip Zits, said, "The drawing is really jaw-droppingly handsome. It carries me through page after page. I'm struck by the diversity of rendering, the textures, the atmospherics--all masterful."

An excellent book for both comics fans and non-comics readers, Eagle is written and drawn by popular Japanese manga artist Kaiji Kawaguchi. Each monthly issue is black and white, 104 pages long and retails for $6.95 USA/$10.95 Canada.
