Set to hit theaters in Japan this December, Sakura Taisen: The Moving Picture will be the first feature length Sakura Taisen anime, sporting a running time of 80 minutes. The story takes place during the events of Sakura Taisen 3, but is set back in Tokyo rather than in Paris, where the events of the third game unfolded. While Ohgami is away in Paris, the Hanagumi finds itself without a leader, leaving the door open for a new character to fill his role. Rachett Artile, former leader of the Hoshigumi and described as a rationalistic and distinct individual, steps up to take his place, but is by no means readily accepted by the Hanagumi. In an exciting twist, the Teikoku Kagekidan is attacked by a number of irrelevant demons, but behind the scenes, while the Hanagumi flounder in the absence of Ohgami, scheming to abolish the Teikoku Kagekidan is underway.
