TOKYOPOP Goes Digital

According to their latest press release, TOKYOPOP has struck a deal with Disney Publishing Worldwide to publish the DIGIMON manga in the United States. It will get the 100% Authentic Manga treatment (read right to left, top to bottom) and is slated to begin release in March of 2003, at a retail price of $4.99 per book.

From the press release: "TOKYOPOP is thrilled with the success of our existing manga properties, and we are confident that this exciting new acquisition will complement our line-up," said John Parker, TOKYOPOP's President and COO. "We look forward to continued success with Disney Publishing Worldwide."

DIGIMON is the second Disney-owned title that is to be published by TOKYOPOP, behind Monsters, Inc. TOKYOPOP's 100% Authentic Manga line is currently enjoying incredible success, with hundreds of thousands of books being shipped to retailers each month. Other book series in the 100% Authentic line include Cowboy Bebop,Chobits, and Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO).
